How to get there

Wasgomuwa can be reached through Matale and Hettipola or from Dehiattakandiya coming from Polonnaruwa or from Mahiyangana. To reach Wasgomuwa National Park it takes six to seven hours by road from Colombo through Kandy, Matale, Illukkubura, Knuckells range, Laggala/Pallegama to Wasgamuwa... This road winds its way through picturesque country, up steep roads with breathtaking scenery amid a paradise for photographers. An alternate route which is shorter, lies through Kandy, Hasalaka along the Minipe Ela to Wasgamuwa or alternatively the new road from Kandy through Randenigala, Loggaloya to Minipe and thereafter to Wasgamuwa.

There are three bungalows within the park and two bungalows outside the park. There are seven campsites for nature lovers to study the natural environment.

Wasgamuwa National Park has established as a national park in 1984. The park lies within central and north- central provinces.
It can be seen numbers of animals such as elephant, leopard, sloth bear, sambhur, spotted and barking deer, wild boar and wild buffalo etc.
Also Resverston hill area has located very near to Wasgamuwa National Park. So You can reach to wasgamuwa via Reverston Hill Area. You can climb the Reverston hill. Afterword it can be visit the "Pitawala Pathana" and "Punchi Lokanthaya". Then theare is a nice place to blathe. Now this is the time for visit Wasgamuva Nation Park. If you can come round 14.00Hrs to Wasgamuwa National Park, it is the well suited time to visti National Park. Becaurse most of the wild animails can be seen usualy after 14.00Hrs.
If you come from Colombo, you have to come first Matale Town. Then come to Ratthota Town. It has located approximately 14 Km far away from the Mathale Town. Then start your trip to Wasgamuwa via Riverston. After the Reverston Hill Area, you can reach to Vilgamuva, and Hettipola Town. Wasgamuwa Park has lacated 15 Km far away from the Hettipola Town.
